GTA6 will still have PS5 time limit? GTA OL receives 64% of its weekly earnings from the PS platform

According to information recently leaked by hackers, 64 per cent of the weekly collection by GTA Online comes from PlayStation. Data show that, thanks to the sales of shark cards and GTA+ members, the game aggregates nearly $10 million per week across the platform.

It is worth noting that an alarming percentage of players still remain on the PS4 platform and that the last generation of hosts under Sony exceeded Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in terms of user activity. The number of PS5 players is almost double that of PS4. Nevertheless, given that a large proportion of the playhouses in the series are in their ecosystems and that a large number of PS4 players have not yet been upgraded, Sony certainly looks forward to the future of GTA6. It is also clear from the data above that most players in this series are concentrated on PlayStation platforms. Starting with the 2001 GTA3, PlayStation has always been the preferred option for R, especially since the PS2 generation of Sony was granted exclusive access to the GTA game on several occasions. GTA3 did not land in Xbox until 2023, and while the waiting time for Sin City and St. Antilles was short, both games were first launched on PlayStation.

By the PS3 generation, Sony lost control when Microsoft announced a deadline for the roll-out of the GTA4 Xbox 360 edition. But in the years that followed, it seemed to have regained control of this open-world game series. The latest advance for GTA6 was recorded on the base version of the PS5 mainframe, which means that the R star may continue the PlayStation platform’s time-limited tradition. It was assumed that Sony might have a marketing priority under GTA6, at which point any commercial advertising or prognosis would be accompanied by a PS5 trademark. If that were true, it would be a major victory for PlayStation.

GTA6 will be officially sold on 19 November 2026.
